The car has sat in the garage all summer while I've been busy with my day job. I've had a very busy fire season, which has felt good after my light duty 2010season. I've got a new motor from Blaine ready to go in and a new Trans from John at RC Trans. The rest of the prep has picked up lately (thanks to rain and cooler temps).

We'll head to Ridgecrest, CA for the SNORE 250 the weekend of Oct. 22. I'm anxious to get back in the car and spend a fun weekend in the desert with my friends!

Steve Humphrey

My friend Steve Humphrey passed away April 9, 2011.

I met Steve 4 1/2 yrs. ago when I was looking for a transmission builder for my VW. Everyone I talked to refered me to PINE BEETLES and Steve. I have thrashed Steves transmissions and have enjoyed our conversations and friendship. The trans. in the car just survived 235 miles of the brutal MINT course, the very abusive Rage At The River jumps befor that, and 200 miles of a flawless SNORE 250.

Steve's pain is gone and for that we're all thankfull. I'll miss ya buddy. Vaya Con Dios.

Revised 2010 race schedule

Due to my injury and slow (but normal) recovery I'm looking at racing the final two SNORE races of the year. The SNORE 250 Oct 3. starting in Pahrump, NV is a point to point race which will be great! We wont have to worry about the faster classes in our rear view mirrors as they catch us in the loop races. The Dec. race is Laughlin's Rage at the River, a two day psudo short course format. I prefer the longer races, but still fun!

LOORRS- Vegas 5-2010

Jennifer and I enjoyed the weekend in Vegas watching the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, round 5 and 6. Amazing action, almost too much to take in! Check out the pictures for a small taste of it.

MOAB Jeep Safari

Jennifer and I enjoyed the day in Moab with Pete (thanks for driving). Spent the afternoon checking out the latest and greatest products, and checking out a boat load of 4wd's of all shapes ans sizes. It was nice to get out of town and really nice to go to Moab, even if I was slowed down by my crutches. I'm sure looking forward to getting my foot back to normal and hitting the trails and desert!

Good luck to my FIREGUYS RACING team mates Jason and Paul racing their Toyota this weekend at SNORE'S Battle at Primm race. They're defending their increadible 2009 race where they won class 7s and were first leaf spring finisher in the massive 1450 race.

SIMCO MOTORSPORTS and VIGIL MOTORSPORTS are out in force as well. Mike and James are racing their Class 8's in a large field of big bad trucks! Good Luck to the Colorado Contingent!

2010 in with a Pop

That "pop" would be my right achilles tendon (darned basketball anyway). Doc says no racing in Feb (Battle At Primm), March (MINT 400), and April is a maybe (Caliente). hopefully recovery is good and we'll blow the dust out of the car at Caliente. The emphasis for the 2010 season is racing the Baja 1000 in Nov. It's the Big One, the peninsula run to La Paz, the true 1000 mile adventure. Jason and Paul will be racing their Toyota as well so the entire FIREGUYS RACING team will be there. If you want to join in on the adventure or help out in anyway please let me know!

The car worked great at the RATR last weekend. For all the details see the story under "Racing Stories." Jennifer and I are headed to Jason's new place in Snowmass Village today for a Baja Party. We'll all watch this year's race on TV and discuss the FIREGUYS RACING assault on the 2010 race! Only 11 months away, come out and experience the Baja with us!!

RATR bound??

A winter wonderland here while I wait for my new FOX rear shocks. If they get here by tomorrow we're on track to head to Laughlin for the Rage At The River, SNORE's final race of the year. That is assuming we can physically get there, just need a break in the weather for the 600 mile drive on Fri. Mike and James and Dave are getting me (and the car) there and providing their outstanding support. We'll see what the next few days bring...stay tuned

Baja 1000

Looking forward to the Baja 1000 again, heading down next week with my friend Paul to work a checkpoint and take it all in (and eat a few fish tacos). It's the loop race again this year so our trip will be shorter as well. Working the double checkpoint #2 and #4 so we get to see 'em twice, unusuall for a Baja race. I'll post up some pics of the adventure when we get back.
